Kala U-Bass Scout Fretted Bass Ukulele with Gig Bag

This is a great little bass from Kala.. I hadn't quite realised the difference in tone that a different pickup/ wood combination / string choice would make! The use of the thinner Aquila black strings really makes the play-ability of the instrument much easier and the cut away section allows access to the upper frets that feature so heavily in bass lessons. The accuracy of the notes beyond the seventh fret seems to be fairly accurate. One issue (that lost the instrument a star) is that there is only one strap stud on it which means either playing sitting down, using a tie strap around the neck or having another stud fitted (there's plenty of room for this where the neck joins the body of the bass). Not sure that you could claim the sound unplugged is sufficient for anything except personal practice as it's lost against any other instrument. Plugged in though it provides a deep, resounding bass sound which is very pleasing indeed. Light to carry, great padded case and a beautiful wood finish, I'm still trying to work out what is B stock about this instrument. Bax music delivered it ahead of schedule in great packaging and virtually in tune from the showroom.

Na veel twijfelen tussen fretted en fretless dan toch voor de eerste gegaan.
De snaren zijn wel zeer plakkerig in het begin maar dat schijnt te beteren.
De geluidskwaliteit is goed maar niet luid, dus ideaal voor als het stil is thuis maar als je wil meespelen met een ander instrument zul je versterking nodig hebben...
Het klinkt ook heel contrabas achtig.
Ik gebruik hem in combinatie met een boss 505 looper, wat effectjes erop zoals chorus en delay en deze combo is ideaal om wat mee te riddelen op je eigen tonen.
Blijkbaar kan je hier ook de kala flatwound snaren op monteren maar dat zal iets zijn voor later..
Ik vind hem zeker een aanrader!
